What it does
Simple Line Icons supplies a webfont and stylesheets in CSS, Sass and Less. The project includes a complete cheat sheet and configurable font paths and class prefixes.
Simple Line Icons fits a site using font-based symbols. Install simple-line-icons or download the repository ZIP, then use the cheat sheet to select the required names. The distribution includes CSS, Sass and Less files alongside the webfont.
Sass and Less variables configure the font directory, font-family name and class prefix. A custom prefix is useful when a theme already has its own naming convention. Keep the font files at the configured location so the stylesheet can load the glyphs.
The public download has no product-account requirement. The author permits the webfont in templates and themes sold through marketplaces and places CSS, SCSS and Less files under MIT. Preserve the supplied notices and keep that stated font permission distinct from the stylesheet licence.
Strengths
- Sass and Less variables cover font paths, family names and prefixes.
- The complete cheat sheet connects artwork with class names.
Watch out for
- The webfont depends on correctly configured font asset paths.
Best for
- Existing font-icon themes
- Template developers using Sass or Less
