What it does
Cromite continues the Bromite lineage with built-in ad blocking and privacy changes for Android, Windows and Linux.
Cromite's own limitations are useful reading. The project says its anti-fingerprinting mitigations are incomplete and directs people facing serious freedom restrictions toward Tor Browser. That makes its intended role clearer: privacy improvements for ordinary browsing rather than an anonymity guarantee.
The browser includes ad blocking and removes or disables features the project considers useful for tracking. Its repository documents Android, Windows and Linux builds, plus platform-specific updating instructions. Follow those instructions for the actual package you choose; maintaining the browser version is part of using an independently distributed Chromium fork.
Strengths
- Built-in ad blocking
- Explicit explanation of fingerprinting limitations
Watch out for
- The project says its fingerprinting mitigations are not comprehensive
Best for
- Users who want Chromium with additional privacy controls
