What it does

wavemon monitors wireless-device signal, noise, packet statistics and configuration through a terminal-oriented application.

Select the wireless interface and use wavemon’s Info screen for current signal and counters or Level history for changes over time. The Scan screen can sort nearby entries by signal, channel or name, while Preferences saves interface and display settings. Signal and noise use dBm, and SNR uses dB when the driver supplies noise information. A missing value can reflect hardware or driver support. The manual also notes that scans and encryption information require CAP_NET_ADMIN, and missing kernel modules or firmware can leave no usable interface. The GPLv3-or-later project includes separately ISC-licensed iw code and uses Linux netlink and ncurses dependencies.
