What it does
The BSD 2-Clause-licensed colour package by vaab gives Python scripts a mutable Color object for RGB, HSL, named colours and HEX values. It also produces a chosen number of steps between two colours.
Construct a Color from a name, HEX value or components. Read or change properties such as red, saturation and luminance, then request the required representation. range_to produces a sequence between two Color objects with an explicit step count.
Output format needs a deliberate choice. The web representation may use a colour name or short HEX spelling, and hex also prefers a shortened value when possible. Use hex_l when a receiving file requires six hexadecimal digits.
The package is free under BSD 2-Clause terms, which require the copyright notice, conditions and disclaimer to accompany source or binary redistribution.
Strengths
- Read/write properties make small colour-editing scripts straightforward.
- A fixed-length HEX output is available alongside compact forms.
Watch out for
- Automatic web and HEX formatting can change the textual form of a value.
Best for
- Python scripts converting web colours and building short scales
