What it does
diff-pdf compares two PDFs and can return a difference status, create a PDF with highlighted changes, or display the comparison in a small graphical viewer.
Compare the two PDFs in a build check, using exit status 0 for no visual differences and 1 for differences. Add --output-diff to save highlighted pages, or --view to inspect them with zoom and relative page shifting when a displacement may explain the result. This is a visual comparison, so use the rendered output to understand the change. Windows has a portable ZIP route; macOS/Linux installation and source-build dependencies differ. The maintainer explicitly provides the tool as-is without active development or support promises.
Strengths
- Connects automated difference detection with inspectable visual output.
Watch out for
- The maintainer states that active development and support are not provided.
Best for
- Technical users checking visual changes between PDF versions
