What it does
libvpx includes standalone encoder and decoder applications alongside its codec library. The vpxenc CLI exposes input-pixel formats, rate controls, multipass settings, and codec-specific options.
Use vpxenc's help to see the encoders compiled into the installed build, then supply a source and named output. Input pixel-layout controls include I420 by default, YV12, NV12 and other planar layouts, with frame dimensions taken from the file or set explicitly. Rate control offers VBR, CBR and quality modes; target bitrate is in kbps, and multipass operation can use a first-pass statistics file. WebM output depends on WebM I/O being enabled, with IVF as another output route. This is a codec-level workflow around prepared video input. The BSD-licensed project also supplies vpxdec and library APIs; available targets and codec options depend on the build.
