What it does

Material Files is an Android file manager with FTP, SFTP, SMB and WebDAV server access alongside local folders and archives.

Material Files brings Android storage and FTP, SFTP, SMB and WebDAV locations into one file manager. Browse with breadcrumbs, view or extract archives, and create common compressed files alongside ordinary file management. It exposes Linux permissions, symbolic links and SELinux context where available. Network access needs a reachable server and its permissions, with login when that server requires it. Root access is a separate optional capability. The GPLv3-or-later app targets Android 5 and newer and relies on Android DocumentsUI for tasks such as granting external SD-card access; it is not a replacement for that system component.

Strengths

  • Several network file protocols
  • Local file and archive handling together

Watch out for

  • Network folders need a reachable server and appropriate permissions
