What it does

Glyphr Studio is a free, open-source font editor that works entirely in a web browser without an account. It is aimed at hobbyists and people learning type design. You can import SVG drawings or OTF, TTF and WOFF files, edit glyphs and generate font files.

Use Open the app to begin a font project in the browser. Glyphr Studio provides vector editing, imports SVG artwork and common font formats, and lets you combine glyphs from multiple fonts. It can then export a font file for use outside the editor.

The project is built around beginner and hobbyist type design. Its Docs link is the starting point for individual tools and controls. An original SVG lettering project is a practical input: import the drawings, edit the characters and export a font from the same browser workspace.

There is no signup, subscription or trial deadline. Import support does not change the licence of a font you bring into the editor; use your own drawings or material whose permissions cover your intended changes.

Strengths

  • Runs in the browser without signup.
  • Imports several common font and vector formats.

Best for

  • First font-design experiments.
  • Turning original SVG lettering into a font.
