What it does
Glyphs is a macOS font editor for drawing typefaces, building families and making icon fonts. It combines outline editing, kerning, variable fonts, colour fonts and Python scripting. Glyphs 4 and the smaller Glyphs Mini are paid applications with 30-day trials.
From letter outlines to a font family
Glyphs lets you edit letters in word context, adjust spacing and preview OpenType features before exporting. Components reuse a drawing across related characters, while masters define the designs used to generate intermediate weights. Glyphs 4 exports static and variable OpenType fonts, including TTF, WOFF and WOFF2.
For icon work, head components reuse shapes at stroke endings. The Python scripting window also lets you edit scripts and debug them inside the application.
Buying Glyphs
Glyphs 4 costs EUR 319 and requires macOS 12 or later. Glyphs Mini costs EUR 49 and requires macOS 10.11 or later. Both offer a 30-day trial; neither trial is a permanent free edition.
