What it does
G'MIC provides image-processing algorithms through a command-line application, editor plug-ins and an online interface.
In G'MIC's command-line interface, read an image, apply operations with their parameters and explicitly write the result. The official tutorial demonstrates PNG input, normalization of image 0 and a separately named PNG output. Image selections restrict each operation; an unqualified command generally works on the whole image list. If no output command is found, G'MIC can append a display command, leaving you viewing a result rather than saving it. Supported-editor plug-ins provide another route through the filters. G'MIC Online is a separate web service.
