What it does
GOOD offers subscription-funded web search using Brave results and ad-free access. Its privacy policy separately discloses operational logs and query-related transmission to the result provider.
GOOD's current FAQ offers ad-free search using Brave results. Subscribe, use the email-linked login across devices, and manage the subscription online. The plans provide the same stated unlimited search access, with different contributions to the project's operating model.
A November 2024 announcement says advertising ended on November 15. That helps explain why the earlier privacy policy, dated June 20, 2024, still describes a Bing-advertising transition. The policy also discloses IP-bearing website logs and sending queries, IP addresses, user agents and settings to Brave. Ad-free access should therefore not be read as a promise that no data is processed. The older policy's remaining app, cookie and advertising clauses have not been independently reconciled with the current service.
Strengths
- The current FAQ identifies the upstream result provider.
- Paid access is offered without search-result advertising.
Watch out for
- The policy permits IP-bearing logs and query-related data sharing with Brave.
Best for
- People comparing ad-free search subscriptions with a social-enterprise operating model
