What it does

Shippo connects online stores with carrier comparison, shipping labels, tracking and returns. Its paid merchant plans add pick lists and scanning at the packing bench. Starter has continuing free software access for a small label volume, while postage and some API work are charged separately.

Shippo can connect the packing bench with the order already imported from the shop. Branded tracking pages and notification emails extend that work after dispatch.

App plans

Plan Software price Monthly labels User logins
Starter Free Up to 30 1
Pro, first volume tier USD 205 per year 1-200 Up to 5
Premier Quoted Unlimited 15 or more

Pro has higher-volume configurations, up to 10,000 labels per month. Starter adds USD 0.05 per label for a merchant's own carrier account; that connection is included on Pro. Postage remains separate. API calls unrelated to Shippo labels, such as standalone tracking or address validation, have separate usage billing.

Prepare the pick list

On Pro or Premier, select orders on the Orders page, choose Pick list, set the grouping and create the printable list. Group by items for bulk picking or by orders for individual packing. A list holds up to 100 orders or 1,000 items. Customs items from manually created or CSV-imported international orders do not appear as normal order lines.

Scan through to a printed label

Install and connect Shippo Print, then open Settings > Printing > Labels. Choose Scan-to-print under Print initiation, select the printer and save. Enable order barcodes before generating lists, and use an order-based grouping.

Scan the order barcode at the bench to open the order. Further scans advance the purchase flow; the final scan buys and prints the label. Missing package details interrupt the sequence for correction. It handles one order at a time, using a keyboard-mode barcode scanner and a supported desktop browser.

Return labels are billed when a carrier first scans them into transit. Shippo processes its charges in USD, although individual invoice lines can show a local currency.

Strengths

  • Pick lists can group items across orders or keep each order separate
  • Scanning can open an order and complete label purchase and printing

Watch out for

  • Scan-to-print requires Pro or Premier, Shippo Print and a supported desktop setup
  • Standalone API activity can be billed separately from app access

Best for

  • Small retailers organizing picking and a shared packing bench
