What it does

Grammalecte checks French grammar and typography, with a text formatter, configurable error categories and spelling dictionaries.

Choose the French dictionary variant and the host application before installing Grammalecte. Its current LibreOffice extension requires 6.4 or later; installing a different Grammalecte variant uses the same extension ID and overwrites the first. Restart the application, then use the grammar categories, text formatter or custom lexical dictionary as needed. Writer cannot use this checker and LanguageTool simultaneously for one language. The homepage also says its Chrome version is not compatible with the new extension API; Firefox, Thunderbird and Python routes have separate requirements.
