What it does

Gravity Forms is a paid WordPress form builder with conditional questions, file uploads, payment connections and workflow integrations. Its annual licences differ in site count and included add-ons. It has no free version; a separate online demo lets you explore the software.

Collect the right supporting files

Gravity Forms' File Upload field gives a document-collection form several separate controls:

  1. Add File Upload from the form editor's Advanced Fields.
  2. Set the allowed file extensions for the documents you need.
  3. Choose whether the field accepts one file or multiple files.
  4. Set the maximum size allowed for each file.

For a project brief, those choices distinguish a single reference PDF from a batch of supporting images. Uploaded files are part of the submission workflow on the WordPress site. Use conditional fields or pages when only some requests need the supporting material.

The upload field checks file count as well as individual file size. If a multiple-upload submission exceeds the maximum count, all files are rejected and one error is shown.

Choose the required add-ons

Annual licence Sites Included examples
Basic 1 HubSpot, Mailchimp and other basic connections
Pro 3 Stripe, Dropbox, Zapier and Slack
Elite Unlimited Surveys, signatures, partial entries and user registration

Buy a licence through the Gravity account checkout, then install the plugin on WordPress. There is no trial version to install on your own site, but the official online demo is available before purchase.

Strengths

  • Upload controls cover extensions, file count, and size
  • Conditional fields, sections, pages, and buttons

Watch out for

  • There is no permanent free plugin edition
  • Payment and advanced survey add-ons depend on the licence
  • Exceeding the upload file-count limit rejects all files in that submission

Best for

  • WordPress intake forms collecting supporting documents
