What it does
GraXpert removes brightness gradients from astronomical images, including those associated with light pollution, optical shading or flat-correction problems.
GraXpert removes unwanted background gradients before later astronomical-image processing. It runs as a standalone application. The upstream command-line guide takes an input image and uses AI without sample points, or a preferences file for methods using background grid points. Choose subtraction or division, smoothing and model version, then save the corrected image with the default _GraXpert suffix or a chosen basename. An option also saves the background model. Keep those choices with the result when comparing corrections. The website describes GraXpert as freely available open-source software; the command-line details come from the upstream main README and may differ by installed release.
