What it does
Guarda offers free web, desktop and mobile crypto wallets with local key storage. Ordinary transfers, recovery tools and integrated purchase, swap and market services have distinct costs and requirements.
Guarda makes interface choice part of the wallet setup. Windows, Mac and Linux downloads sit alongside web, iOS, Android and Chrome-extension versions. The wallet needs no registration and has no platform charge for basic use or ordinary sends; blockchain fees remain payable. Provider-based purchases and other financial services have separate conditions.
Create Wallet generates the wallet locally. Before funding it, save the recovery material provided for that setup. Guarda distinguishes an encrypted backup file, a recovery phrase and an individual private key. They do not cover the same things: the backup restores the collection of Guarda wallets, a phrase restores wallets derived from those words, and a private key restores just its corresponding wallet.
The backup is a TXT file containing encrypted keys. Keep both the file and its password, stored separately. For the web version, changing browser, clearing its cache or opening a private-browsing session requires restoration. At the official web wallet, choose Import or Restore and supply the backup with its matching password. Losing the recovery material cannot be fixed by asking Guarda to reset the wallet.
Its USDT option on Tron is a useful example of why a feature's name needs care. Gas Free means you can pay without holding TRX, the network's native token. It still has USDT charges. In the web or desktop wallet, select the Tron USDT wallet and Create GF Wallet. The guide requires at least 3 USDT to fund this separate address, including 1 USDT for activation and at least 1 USDT for a transaction. The first outgoing transfer completes activation.
Before any transfer, match the asset's network to the recipient's address. Optional market integrations, including prediction markets and perpetual contracts, need their own eligibility and risk checks; their presence does not change who holds your recovery keys.
Strengths
- Web, desktop and mobile access with several recovery formats
- Explains what a backup file, recovery phrase and single private key can restore
- A Tron USDT workflow can pay charges without a separate TRX balance
Watch out for
- Restoring an encrypted backup requires its matching password
- Browser cache changes can require importing the wallet again
- The Gas Free option still charges USDT and creates a separate wallet address
Best for
- People who need desktop and browser access to supported assets
- Users who want a backup file covering several Guarda wallets
