What it does

GymBook lets users create strength workouts, arrange exercises, set individual targets and record sessions. It includes notes, timers, exercise history and analysis charts. Free features are supplemented by paid additions through GymBook Pro.

Individual set settings are useful when a session includes warm-ups or different repetition targets rather than identical sets throughout. Start with one workout and write the targets as you perform them, then add notes that will help on the next visit.

The log can be grouped by workout or exercise, and charts show the recorded repetitions and weights over time. The official site describes no subscription model, with extra features purchased separately. Check those additions against the particular reference exercises or tools you need before buying an upgrade.

GymBook supports iPhone and Apple Watch workout logging. Its export tools cover CSV and XML, while a database backup can be imported back into GymBook. Check the extra-feature list if export or a particular timer mode is essential to your routine.

Strengths

  • Individual set targets support warm-ups and changing set structures.
  • Notes and exercise-history charts keep context beside the numbers.

Watch out for

  • Additional exercises and other extra features use paid upgrades.

Best for

  • Lifters who want a configurable workout notebook with one-time extras.
