What it does

Hancock Whitney's personal digital banking combines account activity, scheduled payments and mobile deposits. Transaction Translator automatically categorizes spending, while the app adds budgets and debit-card settings. Freestyle Checking has a monthly fee that can be waived with qualifying activity or age.

Adjust a debit card from the app

Sign in to the Hancock Whitney app, tap View Cards, then scroll to Manage Card. From there, change a PIN, turn the card on or off, set alerts or restrict spending by location, amount, merchant type and transaction type. Only Hancock Whitney debit cards can be added. Settings carry over to a replacement card when its 16-digit card number stays the same.

Transaction Translator gives account activity clearer merchant details and categories. The budgeting tools compare spending with a budget you create. For an immediate or recurring transfer, open Transfer Money → Make A Transfer; future instructions appear under Scheduled Transfers.

Freestyle Checking charges

Freestyle needs US$25 to open and normally costs US$10 a month. The monthly fee is waived if at least one customer-initiated debit or credit posts during the statement cycle, or if the primary holder is under 18 or aged 64 or over with a valid birth date on file.

Account applicants need photo ID, a Social Security number or individual taxpayer identification number, proof of address and the opening deposit. Apply online or at a financial center, then register for online banking or the app.

Personal online banking shows accounts you own or are authorized to sign on, but excludes business accounts. Use business online enrollment for combined personal and business access. Debit-card controls are absent from the business mobile app.

Strengths

  • Merchant, location and amount controls for the bank's debit cards
  • Transfer schedules can be reviewed separately from completed activity
  • Freestyle's monthly charge can be waived with one posted customer transaction

Watch out for

  • Personal online banking excludes business accounts
  • Debit-card controls are unavailable in the business app

Best for

  • Hancock Whitney personal customers tracking spending and restricting debit-card use
