What it does
HanziHero teaches simplified and traditional Chinese characters and vocabulary using components, pinyin and mnemonic stories.
HanziHero breaks a character into visual components and sound elements before asking you to remember the whole. Use the mnemonic as a recall aid, then connect the character with vocabulary in which it appears. The approach is specific to character learning, so it can complement a broader listening or conversation routine.
The free tier includes 90 characters plus related sounds, components and words, with unlimited review of those items and no time limit. Paid access expands the collection. Accounts require age 13 or older. The provider explicitly limits its purpose to character learning rather than teaching speaking or handwriting.
