What it does

Haveno supplies Monero-based exchange software that connects traders over Tor. Every market pairs XMR with another cryptocurrency or a national currency. Live networks and installers come from third parties, which Haveno does not endorse. The core software is open source; network operators configure the trading fees.

Choose a network before installing

Haveno develops the software but does not run a live marketplace. Its website links third-party network installers and a stagenet test environment. A network's operator, fees and participation conditions therefore need attention separately from the core project.

The setup guide covers Windows, Mac, Linux and Android installers. Within the client, Account → Add new account creates a local payment profile for the method you intend to use. Enter the correct payment details before saving it. This is not registration with Haveno's development team.

How a Monero offer works

Funds → Receive funds displays an XMR address for funding the client. To create a fiat purchase offer, open Buy XMR, choose Fiat and the currency, then select Create offer to BUY XMR. The form includes amount, price, security deposit, payment terms and an optional trigger price.

Before publication, the client needs the security deposit and trading fee; a seller also needs the XMR being sold. After matching, the trade waits for ten Monero confirmations before the buyer makes the external payment. The buyer marks it paid, and the seller confirms actual receipt to release the funds and return deposits.

Deposits and network charges

Each network sets its trading charge, and blockchain fees also apply. Selected No deposit offers let buyers acquire up to 1.5 XMR without a buyer security deposit; the seller may require a passphrase. This does not remove fees or the seller's conditions.

A trade dispute first involves the counterparties and can then go to an arbitrator. The chosen network supplies that process. Keep wallet backups and payment records: running open-source software does not prevent payment disputes, software faults or losses from price changes.

Strengths

  • Offer forms expose price, deposit, payment terms and a trigger-price option
  • Selected no-deposit offers provide a distinct route for small XMR purchases

Watch out for

  • Live networks and installers are supplied by third parties that Haveno does not endorse
  • Fiat payment waits for the Monero confirmation stage

Best for

  • People comparing Monero peer-to-peer networks before selecting an operator
  • Users comfortable installing a client and maintaining local wallet data
