What it does
HEAVYPAINT is a digital painting app built around colour blocks, textured marks and fill tools. Its tools include Fan Fill, Lasso Fill, Rake and Line Blend. The current mobile app has a free download with a paid Pro unlock, while the older Classic edition remains available with separate licensing.
Paint with shapes and textured marks
HEAVYPAINT suits studies where you want to build the image through areas of colour rather than refine every outline. Fan Fill and Lasso Fill create shaped marks, while Rake and Colour Jitter add variation. A gallery keeps paintings together.
For a print, work out the required pixel dimensions before exporting: width in inches multiplied by the chosen pixels per inch gives the necessary width in pixels. The FAQ explains that exported pixels, rather than a stored DPI label, determine the available print detail.
Current and Classic licences
The app’s Options menu contains Unlock Pro. Version 3 and later use an account to share access across devices. Classic 2.x remains downloadable, but the developer says it will receive no new features or bug fixes. Classic desktop purchases cover Windows, Mac and Linux; mobile purchases were separate.
