What it does
Helio is a music sequencer with a minimal interface and an emphasis on scales and microtonal temperaments.
Sketch notes and clips around a scale or temperament, then try stacked modifiers while keeping the underlying notes editable. Their generated sequences play and export as MIDI; Apply All converts them into editable notes. WAV/FLAC rendering is also documented.
Match plugin bitness to the application and check which build a documented feature needs. On iOS, keep working projects and sound files in the app’s local folder; the guide limits iCloud folders to one-time file transfers and rendering.
Strengths
- Scale and temperament experimentation
Best for
- Composers exploring unfamiliar tuning systems
