What it does

Stake gives eligible Australian residents access to ASX and U.S. securities through its app and website. Multiple watchlists and a performance chart help organize holdings across the two markets. Opening an individual account requires identity verification, and trading uses per-order brokerage fees.

Stake distinguishes its Australian and Wall Street markets, including their instruments, currencies and trading sessions. Separate watchlists can keep ASX shares apart from U.S. holdings. Its performance chart includes current and sold positions, giving more context than a snapshot of open holdings alone.

Below the performance chart, choose Day, Month, 3 Month, Year-to-date, Year or Max. To inspect two exact dates, hold and move two fingers on the app's chart, or click and drag on the website. The performance chart is in beta and is being rolled out gradually, so it may not yet appear in every account.

Australian account and trading fees

Individual applicants must be at least 18 and resident in Australia. Choose Open an Account on the app or website and enter your personal and contact details. Stake asks for identification such as a driver's licence or passport. A verified login covers its Australian and U.S. investing routes.

ASX brokerage is A$3 per trade, or 0.01% for orders above A$30,000. U.S. brokerage is US$3 per trade, or 0.01% above US$30,000. U.S. fractional-share purchases start at US$10.

Wall St funding also has a currency-conversion charge, quoted as 55 basis points. The fee changes with the funding amount and exchange rate. Optional FastFunds and card-funding costs are additional, so the brokerage amount alone is not the full cost of moving money into a U.S. position.

Strengths

  • Multiple watchlists separate Australian and U.S. holdings
  • Performance history includes positions already sold
  • Custom chart periods are available on both app and web

Watch out for

  • This account route requires Australian residency and an adult applicant
  • Currency conversion and optional funding fees add to U.S. trading costs
  • The beta performance chart is rolling out gradually

Best for

  • Australian adults following ASX and U.S. securities in one account
  • Investors comparing open holdings with their sold-position history
