What it does

hellotax combines sales-channel records, VAT information and deadlines with local-accountant preparation and submission of European returns. Its plans differ by country, transaction volume and integration allowance. The account also holds tax-office letters, their explanations and the documents needed for follow-up.

hellotax gives online sellers a shared view of VAT information and deadlines across countries and companies. Sales-channel integrations bring in records from Amazon, Shopify and an online store. Local accountants prepare and submit returns, while the OSS service provides reports and filing support for eligible EU sales.

Match the plan to the business

The monthly New Seller offer is EUR 49 per country. It covers up to 500 transactions per year across the company and all its countries, one integration and email support. This plan is limited to Germany, the UK, the Czech Republic and France.

Established Seller is EUR 119 per country per month. It includes unlimited transactions, multiple platform integrations, an account manager, phone support and one hour of accounting consultation per year. Connecting several accounts on the same sales platform can cost extra.

There is also a five-country package and an OSS offer. Ask for a written quotation covering the required countries, registration or takeover work and any local compliance charges. Annual payment is advertised with a 20% saving and free registration or takeover; check those terms against the monthly offer before subscribing. These are paid services.

What to do with a tax-office letter

For the French service, an email tells you when a new letter has been added. Sign in and open Tax Letters or Documents, depending on your account layout. Read the team's explanation and recommended action, then download the original letter.

Having the letter in the account does not mean hellotax has answered it. Follow-up work is outside the standard subscription. The French guide lists investigation at EUR 150 to EUR 250 per hour and resolution work at EUR 150 per hour, with approval requested before chargeable work begins.

This distinction is useful for a seller outsourcing VAT returns while retaining responsibility for correspondence. The software helps organize the records, but someone in the business still needs to read the notifications and arrange any required response.

Strengths

  • Brings VAT records and deadlines together across countries and companies
  • Pairs sales-channel data with local-accountant return preparation
  • The French letter inbox includes explanations and original-document downloads

Watch out for

  • New Seller has a company-wide annual transaction cap and four-country availability
  • Several accounts on one sales platform can require extra integration charges
  • Responding to French tax-office letters is outside the standard subscription

Best for

  • Online sellers coordinating European VAT records and outsourced returns
  • Businesses willing to manage tax-letter notifications alongside a filing service
