What it does
Hiatus consolidates personal account activity, identifies recurring expenses and tracks spending by merchant or category. Free subscription tracking and custom budgets sit alongside paid cancellation and bill-negotiation services. It requires an account and is available only to US residents aged 18 or over.
Link a supported bank account to bring bills and subscriptions into the dashboard. Start with the recurring-expense list to distinguish regular commitments from variable purchases, then use merchant and category views to examine the rest of your spending. Monthly budgets track the categories you choose.
When you want help with a bill
Premium includes a team that can contact providers about cancellation or a lower bill. For a negotiable bill, open its dashboard alert, provide the account-verification information and authorize contact with the provider. Tell Hiatus any restrictions before negotiation begins: its terms allow changes to services and contract length.
Premium charges
The subscription is billed monthly or annually at the tier offered in the app. The US App Store lists annual purchases at US$35.99, US$48 and US$59.99, and labeled monthly purchases at US$13.99 and US$20.99. These are different listed offers, rather than one universal rate.
For subscriptions paid by bank debit, the autopay terms require cancellation at least three business days before the scheduled charge. You can contact [email protected] to cancel; the free version remains available afterward.
Strengths
- Assets and debts can be viewed together as a net-worth total.
- Hiatus says its bill-negotiation service does not take a percentage of savings.
Watch out for
- Some providers cannot be negotiated with or contacted for cancellation; savings, cancellation and refunds are not guaranteed.
Best for
- US adults reviewing recurring commitments alongside discretionary spending
