What it does
MainType organizes and previews fonts on Windows. It provides tags, groups, character inspection, OpenType-feature previews and edition-dependent library limits and management tools.
MainType keeps project groups, tags, ratings and notes alongside your local font library. Drag up to five fonts onto the font information panel to compare their properties. In the Sample panel, the X² button enables OpenType feature previews, useful for checking ligatures or numeral options before installing a font.
Groups can load, install or uninstall their fonts together, and synchronized folders can reflect a shared collection. The FMSConfig utility backs up the library with its tags, groups and settings.
The free Windows edition is limited to 2,500 fonts and noncommercial use. Standard permits commercial work and up to 10,000 fonts; Professional removes the library cap and adds automatic installation after synchronization and the font registry fixer. Both paid editions use perpetual licences.
