What it does

Higher Logic Vanilla is a customer community platform for discussions, questions, product feedback and self-service knowledge. Accepted answers can become knowledge articles, and configured integrations connect community questions with private support. Packages are arranged through the sales team, with accounts and registration rules managed by the community owner.

Vanilla pins and styles accepted answers, tracks questions as open, resolved or rejected, and can turn a helpful community post into a knowledge article while preserving the original discussion for comments. That gives a product support team a path from one customer's question to reusable guidance.

When a question needs private support, a configured integration can escalate it. The Zendesk connection synchronises replies and statuses in both directions, with manual escalation or rules for unanswered posts, keywords and sentiment. Search across external sources uses connectors, and search analytics can be filtered by term, content type or connector.

Package Search connectors Automation rules Knowledge bases Audit history
Corporate 2 5 4 1 month
Enterprise 6 Unlimited 8 2 months
Enterprise Plus Unlimited Unlimited 20 1 year

All three packages list unlimited users, page views and API calls. Contact Higher Logic to arrange a package and price.

Membership settings also shape who can participate. In Dashboard > Settings > Membership > Registration, choose Basic, Approval, Invitation or Connect, then save. Approval sends applications to Moderation > Users > Applicants for a decision; Higher Logic says to turn off the separate email-confirmation requirement when using this method. Connect uses your organisation's single sign-on instead of a separate registration process.

Strengths

  • Accepted answers and knowledge-article conversion make useful responses reusable
  • Configured Zendesk integration supports two-way replies and statuses

Watch out for

  • Federated search requires a connector for each external source
  • Corporate limits federated search connectors and automation rules

Best for

  • Customer support teams developing a reusable peer-support and knowledge community
