What it does
Historic Films licenses archival footage, including musical performances, entertainment programmes and newsreels. Descriptive logs, clip-selection controls and researcher assistance support professional production work.
Use the descriptive log and Set as clip start and clip end controls to identify the passage you need, then save it to a bin or use Order / Inquire. Registration enables saved bins, researcher contact and footage orders. The service is intended for production professionals and does not supply private copies to fans or collectors.
For musical performances, the footage licence excludes music publishing, performance, artist-release and property rights. Those require separate clearance. The licence also applies to the named production, with additional rights needed for reuse elsewhere.
Fees distinguish research, licensing and mastering. A paid Pro account provides an initial 60 minutes of watermarked Specialty Collection downloads for offline review, expiring after a year or when the project ends. That access supports edit preparation; it does not replace the production licence.
