What it does

Hargreaves Lansdown offers UK investment and pension accounts with fund and share research. Visitors can compare account types, choose investments themselves or explore portfolios prepared around a goal and risk level. Its Junior ISA has no account or online dealing charges, although investment costs can remain.

Hargreaves Lansdown makes account purpose and investment research separate choices. Compare accounts covers ISAs, general investing and pensions. The main search accepts shares, funds or articles, with filters for investments, research, news and guides. That helps keep a company listing separate from commentary about it.

Within a Stocks and Shares ISA, choose individual holdings or a ready-made investment matched to a goal and risk level. Opening the account does not require immediate investment selection. UK residents aged 18 or over need personal details, a National Insurance number and a UK bank account. Funding can begin with £100 or £25 a month.

Compare the account and dealing costs

The adult ISA’s annual account fee on funds starts at 0.35% for the first £250,000, with lower tiers for larger balances. Shares and other equities also incur 0.35%, capped at £12.50 monthly. One-off online fund trades cost £1.95; share trades cost £6.95, falling to £3.95 after twenty trades in the previous month. Monthly Direct Debit investing has no dealing charge. Underlying investment and overseas-trading costs are additional.

The Junior ISA is different: account and online dealing fees are zero. Parents or guardians can manage it alongside their own HL account, and family members can contribute. Investments still have their own possible costs, and the money belongs to the child and cannot normally be withdrawn before age 18.

Strengths

  • Search filters distinguish investment listings from research and news
  • Offers self-selected holdings and goal-based ready-made investments
  • Junior ISAs can be linked to a parent’s account for management

Watch out for

  • Adult ISA holding and one-off dealing charges can both apply
  • Junior ISA money is committed to the child until adulthood

Best for

  • UK investors comparing fund research and account services
  • Parents assessing Junior ISA access alongside their own investments
