What it does
Robusta is an AI SRE platform built around HolmesGPT. Its agent runs in a Kubernetes cluster, connects to existing observability and other data sources, and investigates alerts. The Platform presents alert triage, investigation results, and timelines through a central web interface. It is available as Robusta-hosted SaaS or as a self-hosted enterprise deployment, making it an investigation layer for teams that already have monitoring signals rather than a replacement for their metrics or logs system.
Bring an existing alert into the investigation
Robusta's documented setup starts with an account and install wizard, then deploys an agent into a Kubernetes cluster with Helm. The agent connects to existing monitoring and other data sources, gathers evidence for alert investigations, and sends findings to the Robusta Platform. The central interface collects triage results and investigation timelines.
Illustrative example, not a case study: when a Kubernetes workload alert fires, the team could use the Platform to review the agent's investigation alongside the alert history, then decide whether the evidence calls for a code, configuration, or infrastructure change. Robusta analyzes the alert and context available to its agent; it is not the monitoring source that first detects the condition, and the team remains responsible for approving and applying a fix.
Hosted or self-managed
The vendor documents a hosted SaaS Platform that is free to get started, with paid tiers for larger teams and advanced features. A self-hosted Platform is available on enterprise plans. The public pricing page asks visitors to request a quote, so the current paid rates, quotas, and feature entitlements are not established here.
The older Robusta Classic project is a different product: its rule-based engine enriches and routes alerts, while the current Platform centers on HolmesGPT investigations. The MIT license checked for the Classic repository should not be read as the license for the full Platform.
Strengths
- Uses an in-cluster agent to investigate alerts against existing observability and other data sources.
- Centralizes alert triage, AI investigation results, and historical timelines.
- Offers hosted SaaS and self-hosted Platform deployment options.
Watch out for
- The documented agent setup requires a Kubernetes cluster and Helm.
- Self-hosted Platform deployments are available only on enterprise plans.
Best for
- Teams with existing monitoring alerts that want automated investigation and centralized triage.
- Kubernetes operators whose in-cluster agent can access the data sources needed for investigations.
