What it does
Hostelworld combines hostel accommodation booking with social features for travellers. After booking, readers can see traveller profiles and use hostel or city chats, while the app also presents events and traveller meetups.
If meeting people is part of a solo trip, look beyond the bed search. Hostelworld connects a booking with travellers in the same hostel or city, giving you a way to discuss plans before arrival. Hostel Chat, City Chat and direct messages serve different scales of conversation.
The Events & Stays section links dated events with nearby accommodation, useful when a festival is the reason for travelling. Keep the event dates and stay dates together when planning. The service also advertises flexible-booking options, but choose the terms attached to your actual bed. The social features add a way to make plans with other travellers; the reservation still needs to fit the room type and arrangements you want.
