HTTPie is an API testing client offered as an open-source terminal tool and a graphical desktop app. The desktop build is a public beta for Mac, Windows and Linux, version 2025.2.0. Both are aimed at developers working with HTTP servers, RESTful APIs and web services.

Our take
The terminal client is the original open-source piece, and the desktop app is the newer graphical layer on top of it. That beta label matters if you need something settled for daily work. We'd point terminal users at the CLI and treat the desktop build as a preview.
Best for
- Developers testing REST APIs
- Command-line users who want an alternative to raw curl
- Engineers working with HTTP servers and web services
