What it does

Hyper3D's Rodin generates 3D objects from images or text, with geometry, texture and export controls. The same platform includes ChatAvatar, image tools and a paid API.

Sign in to Rodin and start with a clear image showing the whole subject. A subscription enables up to five reference images, which can add consistent side and rear views. Text prompts can also generate an image to use as the model reference.

Review the preview before confirming geometry. The Confirm menu offers triangle geometry or quad topology, with detail and other options depending on the active plan. Then use the original image, a new image or a remixed reference for texturing. Confirm the textures before downloading if the model needs them. Export formats include OBJ, FBX, GLB, USDZ and STL.

Gen-2.5 offers adjustable Thinking Effort. Private generation must be enabled while the account has an available allowance. Business also provides batches of five or ten alternatives, which consume more credits.

The no-subscription route offers previews before credit confirmation and limits included exports to legacy models. Creator starts at USD 30 per month, adding multi-image input, Smart Low-Poly and HD textures. Business starts at USD 120 per month and includes the full API. Subscription credits expire with their period; directly purchased credits remain valid until used.

Rodin and ChatAvatar have different output terms. ChatAvatar's default personal-use licence requires a separate commercial entitlement. All inputs need appropriate rights, and the terms do not guarantee copyright protection for generated models.

Strengths

  • Geometry and textures are reviewed and confirmed in separate stages.
  • Multi-image references and topology controls support different object requirements.
  • Documented downloads cover mesh formats for several downstream workflows.

Watch out for

  • Free previewing does not provide unrestricted exports from current models.
  • Larger batches and advanced generation options consume additional credits.
  • ChatAvatar commercial rights cannot be assumed from Rodin's output terms.

Best for

  • Generating an initial object from consistent image references
  • Choosing geometry and texture options before a model download
