What it does
IcoFont supplies icon-font and SVG artwork, framework snippets, a custom-font Composer and a Studio for combining icon elements.
IcoFont offers a webfont route and individual SVG or framework snippets from the same browser. Search for a symbol, choose its treatment and copy it, or include the stylesheet and use an icon class in a page.
Composer builds a smaller font from a selection, with a chosen font name and class prefix. Studio goes further by combining icons, shapes and badges, editing the pieces and adding the result to that font. These controls suit a site that needs a compact set with a few custom combinations. Duotone covers only part of the collection and uses a translucent second tone of the selected color.
The tools are free without signup. Licensing is split: icons use CC BY 4.0, font files use SIL OFL, and other files use MIT. Preserve the embedded attribution and license material. Brand icons retain their owners' trademark rights.
Strengths
- Composer supports a named custom subset and class prefix.
- Studio combines icon elements and badges.
Watch out for
- Duotone does not cover every icon in the catalog.
- Artwork, font files and supporting files have different license conditions.
Best for
- Sites needing a small custom icon font
- Designers combining simple UI pictograms
