What it does
Lunacy is a graphic and interface-design app with reusable components, variables, auto layout and prototyping. It has native Windows, Mac and Linux versions plus a browser edition, with local files and cloud collaboration options.
Lunacy works with local .sketch and .fig designs as well as its own .free format. Local documents remain usable offline; cloud documents add shared editing and comments. The free editor can be used without mandatory registration, while cloud work uses an account.
For a clickable prototype, design within frames. Select a frame or element and press H, or click + in the right panel’s Prototyping section, then connect the hotspot to a destination. Choose a trigger, action and animation, and press F5 to preview. Scrollable prototypes require frames based on a preset, including custom presets.
The Free plan includes ten cloud documents and 30 days of version history. Built-in icons, illustrations and photos are supplied in lower-resolution formats and require a link to Icons8 when used. That attribution condition applies to the supplied graphics.
Pro adds vector graphics, higher-quality photos and image tools without the backlink requirement. Unlimited cloud documents and history are presented as an additional cloud option; Enterprise offers private-cloud arrangements and administrative controls.

- Native apps allow local design work without an internet connection.
- Prototype triggers, overlays and transitions have detailed controls.
Watch out for
- Free library graphics require attribution and use lower-resolution formats.
- Free cloud storage is limited to ten documents and 30 days of history.
- Scrollable prototypes require preset-based frames.
Best for
- Designers organizing reusable interface assets and prototypes
- Designers who want local files and native desktop applications
