What it does
Unicons is IconScout’s icon family, with line, solid, monochrome and thin-line styles on its website. Public font and framework packages provide a free route, while the site also offers premium features through All Access.
For a simple website, add the Unicons stylesheet to the HTML head and use the relevant icon classes in the page body. The repository’s comments example uses uil uil-comments. You can also install @iconscout/unicons or download the repository’s CSS for a locally hosted setup. CSS controls the size and color.
React, Vue and React Native integrations are listed separately. Choose the package for both the framework and style you need; the repository links different React packages for line, solid and monochrome artwork. The website additionally offers thin-line, 3D and animated collections, so its full catalogue is broader than the older repository overview.
The public pack uses the IconScout Simple License. Ordinary personal and commercial project use does not require attribution, but the files cannot be compiled into a competing asset service. Modified assets cannot be resold or republished as a separate product under another profile. Free access and paid All Access options are shown on the current Unicons page.
Strengths
- Offers a public CSS font route and framework-specific packages.
- Styles can be chosen separately for different interface treatments.
Watch out for
- The licence restricts competing asset services and separate republication.
- Framework integrations are split by style rather than one interchangeable package.
Best for
- Web interfaces using IconScout’s symbol family.
- Teams choosing between icon fonts and component integrations.
