What it does
ImageMagick is a free, open-source suite for editing, processing and converting images, with command-line workflows and programming interfaces.
Use a magick command with a separate output filename for a repeatable conversion, such as PNG to WebP with a selected quality value. For folder batches, distinguish the command from magick mogrify: mogrify normally overwrites the matched originals. Its -format example instead writes JPEG copies from PNG inputs and leaves the PNGs in place. Choose the destination and naming scheme before running a batch. Programming bindings provide a separate route for incorporating the same image-processing tasks into an application.
Strengths
- Command-line batch workflows
- Image processing APIs and language bindings
Watch out for
- mogrify normally overwrites inputs; format-changing copies can still need destination-name checks.
Best for
- Automating repeated image transformations
