What it does
ImageOptim is a free, open-source Mac application that combines image optimization tools and removes metadata.
Drop copies of web images into ImageOptim or add them with the plus button. It saves automatically by overwriting the dropped files, with originals placed in Trash; status icons distinguish a saved result from an already optimal file. Metadata stripping is enabled by default. Disable it in Preferences when EXIF, authorship or colour profiles must remain, but the app cannot preserve selected metadata types while removing others. This Mac application requires macOS 11 or later; the web service is a separate product.
