What it does
Image2icon creates and applies custom file or folder icons on a Mac through drag and drop. It includes image adjustments, text and emoji, restoration and batch export. Basic use and several export formats are free, while additional templates and Windows ICO, JPG or PNG output use in-app purchases.
The basic workflow uses two drops: first supply the image, then drop the file or folder that should receive the icon. That makes a project archive or a group of working folders a sensible first use. Adjust the image with zoom, movement, rotation and background colour, or add text and emoji to distinguish folders. Restoration returns an item to its default icon.
The free version exports ICNS, folder icons, iOS assets, iconsets and favicons according to the developer’s App Store description. Windows ICO, JPG and PNG export require an in-app purchase, as do the complete template options. Batch export processes several images together. These are output choices from a Mac application; an ICO export does not make the editor a Windows program.
