What it does
Helium Converter is a separate audio utility from Imploded Software. It converts tracks between common lossless and lossy formats while carrying supported metadata.
Use the converter when an existing collection needs a playback-compatible copy rather than a new library manager. Decide whether the destination should remain lossless or use a smaller lossy format. Metadata retention is a documented product goal, but inspect important tags after a representative conversion, particularly when moving between formats with different tagging conventions.
The standalone Windows product accepts files or nested folders, lets you choose an output folder or the source location, then select the target format and encoder settings before Convert. Its source and target lists differ: DSF/DSD and APE appear as inputs, while the target list includes FLAC, MP3, M4A/M4B, WAV, WMA, Vorbis and WavPack. DRM-protected files are excluded. The vendor describes this converter as fully free, without trial limits or locked features.
