What it does

Infor Financials covers multiple ledgers, assets, cash, project costs and reporting, with industry-specific connections to operating transactions. It is intended for organizations linking finance with broader business systems. Access is arranged with Infor for the selected product and deployment, rather than through a published self-service price.

Infor's financial-management range connects accounting with the operating detail of an industry. Its financial accounting covers multiple ledgers, payables and receivables, assets and cash; management accounting adds project costs, planning and inventory valuation.

Scope the finance application alongside the enterprise resource planning (ERP) system that handles the organization's operating activities. The relevant industry product determines which records connect to finance.

Supporting and releasing a journal

Within Infor Financials and Supply Management, open Journals, choose the entry and go to Related Documents > Create. Add a document identifier and description, then either attach a file or provide its web address. Save it with the journal so reviewers can inspect the supporting material.

To release selected entries, use Journals > Actions > Release. Entries must balance in the relevant currencies; entity settings determine automatic balancing and whether each transaction currency must balance separately. Release moves an entry to Released or Pending Approval, depending on the configured approval rules.

A new Unreleased entry remains editable. If approval rejects it, it returns to that state for correction. Released means it can be posted, while Posted means that step has occurred. All journals must be posted before the period can close. Reversing a release is limited to eligible manually created journals and requires the corresponding entity option.

Arranging the system

Use Infor's contact route with the company, country and industry to discuss the required finance application. Users sign into the organization's configured system with assigned roles. The journal steps above apply to Financials and Supply Management; other Infor industry products can have different screens and setup requirements.

Strengths

  • The finance range includes consolidation and intercompany workflows.
  • Distributor accounting can connect inventory movements, rebates and landed costs, including the costs of bringing purchased goods to their destination.

Watch out for

  • Journal reversal permissions depend on entity settings and how the entry was created.
  • Product choice and operating screens differ across the industry range.

Best for

  • Organizations connecting finance to industry operations and an ERP system
  • Accounting teams using controlled journal review across entities
