What it does
Inkle combines transaction categorization, cash tracking and invoicing with tax deadlines, filing history and communication with its accounting team. US companies can use the core accounting software free, then purchase bookkeeping or tax services. Reports and transaction review stay in the app alongside the supporting documents and questions.
Inkle's app brings a US company's accounting and filing work into one record. Transaction categorization and cash tracking support the books, while deadline tracking and filing history organize the tax workflow. Documents, task-specific chat channels and tickets provide ways to share information with the accounting team.
Review suggestions before relying on the reports
After setting up the company and connecting its financial accounts, open the transaction list to review suggested categories. Inkle can propose a category from a transaction's description and payment context; the green check confirms your approval. A bank description alone may not explain the business purpose, so review unfamiliar payments before treating their category as settled.
Recurring items can use categorization rules. Once the records are ready, open Live Financials and use Export to download a report in PDF or Excel. Check the reporting period and transaction completeness before sharing it: an export does not itself finish missing categorization or make a delayed bank feed current.
Free software and paid help
The current core accounting offer is Free. Optional monthly bookkeeping starts at US$49 per month, with the service price depending on transaction volume and complexity. Monthly bookkeeping can be cancelled on that cycle. Tax filings are separate purchases; Form 1120 preparation starts at US$650 per year.
A company that wants to maintain its own books can use the software, while one that needs staff to reconcile and close the accounts can add the bookkeeping service. The chosen service scope determines which work Inkle's team performs.
