What it does
Inkwell is a notes app for macOS and Windows with safe saving, note version history, recently deleted recovery for up to 30 days, drag-and-drop folders, and a quiet editor with focus mode. The vendor lists the app at $0 with all features included and no account or subscription.
Inkwell focuses on dependable writing rather than a large knowledge-management system. The editor supports headings, lists, links, and text color; previous versions can be restored, and deleted notes remain recoverable for 30 days. The app is free on macOS and Windows with no account or subscription. The product is a straightforward desktop notebook, so teams needing shared workspaces or hosted collaboration should look elsewhere.
Strengths
- Version history and recently deleted recovery help restore earlier notes.
- The vendor says all features are free with no account or subscription.
