What it does

Inspectlet combines session replay, heatmaps, form analytics, feedback surveys and testing. It supports filtering sessions and examining recordings around funnel drop-off points.

Create an account, add your site and choose Get Code in the dashboard. Install the script directly or through Google Tag Manager or the WordPress plugin. Inspectlet detects forms whose form and input elements have an ID or name attribute. If a form is missing from reports, those identifiers are the first thing to check.

The Conversion Report follows progress through fields. Hesitation Report shows time spent at a field, while fill and ignored-field reports distinguish partial answers from fields that were never touched. These views can narrow a form investigation before you review the associated sessions.

The ongoing free plan includes 2,500 recordings per month across three websites, with replay, heatmaps and A/B testing. It needs no payment card and keeps data for one month. Paid subscriptions provide more capacity or features. Quota staggering is enabled by default, spreading recordings through the month; recording can therefore pause for the day before the full monthly allowance is exhausted.

Strengths

  • Custom tags can attach user or session details to recordings for later searches.
  • Individual recordings can be downloaded for longer-term archiving.

Watch out for

  • Quota staggering may leave part of a day unrecorded when that day’s allocation is used.

Best for

  • Teams investigating form or website-task abandonment
