What it does
Breeze Icons is KDE’s freedesktop-compatible icon theme, used by Plasma and KDE applications and also available for webfont use.
Breeze Icons supplies KDE's freedesktop-compatible theme for Plasma and KDE applications. Icon Explorer in the Plasma SDK lets developers browse the installed collection when selecting a symbol for a control or application.
The project also offers a webfont route with named icon classes. Application imagery and symbolic icons have separate design guidance, so a large launcher image and a small toolbar action should be chosen for their different roles. Contributors work through KDE Invent.
Its LGPL artwork clarification defines the editable source formats and allows notices to be kept prominently in the directory containing the icons. That is useful when shipping an adapted collection, where putting a full notice inside every displayed image would be impractical. Preserve those notices and the applicable license with redistributed artwork.
Strengths
- Desktop browsing and webfont use are documented.
- The license explicitly explains its application to artwork.
Best for
- KDE application development
- Designers working with Plasma’s symbolic icon language
