What it does
Irasutoya is Takashi Mifune’s illustration library of people, objects and situations. Search and detailed categories cover subjects from workplace actions to food, science and seasonal events. Images use transparent PNG backgrounds, with free reuse governed by the site’s commercial-use rules.
Use a specific person, action or object as the search starting point. The site also offers an experimental English search alongside Japanese categories.
Count the artwork in a commercial project
Ordinary commercial use permits 20 distinct illustrations per work. Repeats count once, but different expressions count separately. Larger commercial uses need a paid arrangement; work created within Canva has a separate count exception.
Use the images as parts of a design. Stock redistribution, image-editor libraries and products whose value is the illustration itself are prohibited. Credit is optional.
Transparent PNG support matters when placing the artwork: an incompatible editor may show a black background. Larger files can be requested, but vector data is not sold.
Strengths
- Detailed categories include actions and specific situations
- Transparent PNG artwork fits into existing layouts
Watch out for
- Ordinary commercial projects have a 20-image allowance
- Vector files are not sold
- The illustrations cannot be redistributed as stock
Best for
- Supporting pictures for instructions and handouts
