What it does
Irish Ferries provides passenger crossings linking Ireland, Britain and France, including Dover to Calais. Its site combines ferry and ferry-plus-rail searches with ship information, sailing updates, fare guidance and booking management.
Look at the actual ship as well as the route. The fleet descriptions show different combinations of cabins, restaurants, lounges and children’s areas, and one vessel is explicitly described as having a more basic service. Facilities should therefore be checked for the crossing you choose.
Ferry & Rail is a separate search option for a connected journey. The page also distinguishes Economy, Flexi and Flexi+ fare guidance, with amendment and refund questions addressed in its FAQ. Consult the relevant check-in and port information before arranging the final approach to the terminal. Manage Booking handles the reservation, while Sailing Updates concerns the operating service. Keeping those two checks separate helps when a travel plan changes or a disruption affects departure.
The booking form marks the optional Irish Rail element as requiring seven business days for postage. Allow for that lead time when considering Ferry & Rail, rather than assuming every part of the journey arrives as a mobile ticket.
