What it does
ITK-SNAP segments structures in 3D and 4D images through manual delineation, active contours and linked image navigation.
ITK-SNAP centres the work on a segmentation: load related images, inspect linked orthogonal views, and refine a region manually or with active contours and supporting interpolation. A workspace can preserve which images were loaded along with label descriptions, colour maps and segmentation parameters. It is a small XML description, though, so share it with the images it references rather than treating it as an image-data package. The documentation describes that workspace design in its version 3 feature guide; the version 4 documentation page points to courses and reference material while its web manual is still being developed.
