What it does

Janvas is a browser graphics editor for vector drawing, page layouts and animation. Pen, pencil, brushes and tracing provide different ways to create artwork, with point editing for refinement. All tools are included initially, but saving is limited to ten free uses before a subscription is required.

Refine a path, then save its editable form

Double-click a path to open its anchor points. Drag selected points with snapping, or adjust curve handles to change the contour. The Point panel provides numerical position and point-type controls.

Save the project as a JA document or a JAZ package. A package can include photograph originals and installed fonts; those fonts still need suitable sharing rights. Outside Chrome and Edge, the save route downloads a JA file.

Choose what the SVG contains

The File menu’s SVG export can include the entire drawing, active page or selected objects. Editable Data embeds the Janvas document for reopening. Other settings control hidden objects, unused symbols, fonts and coordinate precision. The documented SVG route writes the objects at the current playhead time and omits the timeline itself.

After ten free saves, the listed subscription is €10.99 per month plus VAT.

Strengths

  • Anchor positions and curve handles remain editable
  • SVG export can retain the complete Janvas document
  • Export scope can isolate a page or selected objects

Watch out for

  • Free access is limited to ten saves
  • The documented SVG export omits timeline data
  • Direct save behaviour differs between browsers

Best for

  • Illustrators working with editable paths in a browser
  • Designers preparing SVG artwork for later revision
