What it does
Kanopy provides films, documentaries and series through participating public libraries and educational institutions.
Eligibility comes before choosing a film. Public-library users find their library, validate a card and PIN or password, and create a Kanopy account. The setup requires the account holder to confirm they are 18 or older; some libraries send users through their own sign-in page.
A library that is absent from the search may not offer Kanopy. Educational access also depends on the institution joining and selecting videos for its members. This makes Kanopy worth checking through a library you already belong to, rather than assuming a public catalogue listing grants access.
